Privacy policy

Last updated October 2026

Age Related Diseases & Health Trust (“AgeTrust”, “we”, “us”) is a registered charity, number 1124019. We are the data controller for the personal information you give us through this website. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why

  • Contact and support enquiries. Your name, email address, phone number (if given), what your message is about and the message itself. We use this to reply to you and, where you ask for support, to arrange it. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and your consent where you tick the box.
  • Volunteer applications. Your name, contact details, postcode, the role you are interested in, your availability and anything you tell us about yourself. We use this to contact you, match you with someone nearby and, if you go ahead, to arrange references and a DBS check. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a volunteering agreement, and our legitimate interest in safeguarding.
  • Donations. If you donate through our payment provider, they process your payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your name, the amount and whether you have added Gift Aid, which we must keep for HMRC.
  • Website use. We use only essential cookies. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security.

Sensitive information

If you tell us about your health, or someone else's, so that we can arrange support, we treat that as special category data. We only use it to provide the support you ask for, we keep it to the minimum, and we rely on your explicit consent (or, for safeguarding, our legal obligations). Win Your PIP, our PIP-form service, has its own privacy notice on winyourpip.com.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with people who need it to deliver our services: our volunteers and coordinators, partner organisations such as Home to Home Calls where you ask us to refer you, our secure database and email providers, the Disclosure and Barring Service for volunteer checks, and HMRC for Gift Aid. We may also share information where the law requires it or to protect someone from harm.

How long we keep it

Enquiries: up to two years after our last contact. Volunteer records: for the length of your volunteering and six years afterwards. Gift Aid declarations: six years, as HMRC requires. We delete or anonymise data when it is no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to how we use it, or withdraw consent at any time. Email info@agetrust.co.uk or write to Radfield House, Stafford, ST17 4AP. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
